In the run up to filming The Pizza Guy everything was wonderfully manic so if you are looking for a blog on how to make a short film - this is not it. This is more of a development diary for what happens next and considering this is my first film, I imagine I will make mistakes but I shall endeavour to learn and laugh about it.

Although I'm new to writing/ producing films, I'm not going into this blind. I have done research and I am very lucky to be surrounded by creative people that have had their own trial and errors which have turned into amazing projects.

Now that filming is complete and editing has begun (something that our director, Chad Killoran, has taken the reigns of) it's time for me to turn to the mammoth task of sending our short into the big, wide world.

So here's the plan:

1. We are submitting to a variety of film festivals but focusing on ones that allow the film to be released online first as we wanted all those involved to be able to use, promote and most importantly enjoy what we had made without having to wait 2 years to do so.

2. After doing some research, we've decided to launch at 4am on Monday 28th September on Vimeo. It's a smaller audience but it's much more targeted to the sort of audience we want to reach and by launching at that twilight hour, it gives us a full week of promotion while the video is still fresh (buzz is important, so we've been told). During this time (and leading up to it ) we will keep posting updates about the project and the people involved via Twitter (@PizzaGuyFilm), Facebook (/thepizzaguyfilm) and this blog.

3. For no other reason other than I love the personal touch of it and it's a nice way for the cast and crew to wrap up the process, we will be having a private screening in London, a couple of weeks before the online launch (if we get some reviews from it then that's a bonus).

4. This blog. Filmmaking is hard, marketing is hard, getting noticed in the constant stream of internet videos is nigh on impossible so it is my hope that this blog will be helpful to me and to anyone else who is as crazy as us to create their own work too (well done you!)

It is 36 days til we launch and currently I'm happy, excited and nervous - i feel like that's where I should be right now...right?
