I thought it would be nice to share with you a few words from our wonderful director Chad Killoran about The Pizza Guy.
"The Pizza Guy is an unorthodox short comedy film which may alter your thoughts on how many toppings a pizza can have.
The script immediately presented itself to me with a character of depth; one who's intentions could easily be interpreted at varied ends of the moral spectrum at different points of the story. In addition, it made me laugh, which should be the first deciding factor when choosing to take on a comedy project.
The title character, a stranger at the door able to provoke a household's personal issues without even stepping inside. The initial victim the other side of the door, Tom (played by Dominic Leeder), a man who's smooth control of his relationship situation is pushed beyond the limit of its comfort zone in one conversation with Charlie, The Pizza Guy (played by Tom Campion).
Casting proved to be the most important aspect in bringing the film to life. With all casting carried out with aptitude by writer and producer, Victoria Jane Appleton, each cast member commendably fell into their characters with what seemed like effortless ease.
Stylistically the aim of the project was to match the film's aesthetics to the quirkiness of the script's story line and writing style. This included minimalist set, stationary camera work and unfolding dialogue through unconventional POV camera shots. The concept of this was to give the audience a more intense dialogue response to the eccentric conversation at hand.
As with every project I accept to work on, once the script has enticed me, it is the talent behind the project which really inspires me. This proved to be more than I could have asked for with a full cast and crew team of ten individuals who all brought out their skill and dedication to making the film a success.
The intentions for the audience in making The Pizza Guy were purely to entertain. Laughter is one of the many forms of happiness and if my work bringing this script together as a film project can bring that feeling out in the audience, the project will have been a success to me.
